Speaker Request

Paul and Wendy Brawley, married for 44 years, share the key to their success in business, public service and marriage. The dynamic husband-and-wife team believe that “Nothing is too hard when you have your priorities in order.”

Their inspirational message of loving each other and working to support each other’s goals is an inspirational testimony. Paul and Wendy share their love of God, family and community in a way that will challenge couples to strengthen their marriage journey by supporting one another’s dreams. The Brawleys want others to know that “You don’t have to sacrifice your marriage to follow your dreams, if you are willing to follow them together!”

Biographical Sketch

Paul and Wendy Brawley

Paul and Wendy Brawley are the owners of IMARA Communications Group, Inc., which publishes IMARA Woman Magazine, a lifestyle and personal-growth magazine for women of color.  The magazine also hosts its own television talk show, IMARA Woman Magazine TV, which airs in more than 1.5 million households in S.C. The Brawleys met as students at the University of South Carolina in the late-’70s. Married now for 43 years, the couple has pursued their life’s passion of entrepreneurship, community and public service. They are the recipients of countless business and community service awards. Each holds a Master’s degree in business from Webster University.  The Brawleys pride themselves on being principled business owners who are as committed to God and family as they are to business and public service. Both have served their community as elected officials in South Carolina: Wendy was elected to the S.C. House of Representatives in 2017-2022 and was previously elected in 2004 to the Richland One School Board, where she served as its Chairperson for two years. Paul was elected in 2006 as the Richland County Auditor, making him the first African American to ever win one of Richland County’s 7 countywide elective offices in the state’s capital county. Paul is currently serving in his fifth term in office. The Brawleys are active members of St. Phillip A.M.E. Church in Eastover, SC and have two adult children and one grandchild.
