2020 has been an unforgettable year! We have confronted unimaginable challenges-hurricanes, wildfires, insect invasions, economic recession, police brutality, overt racism and a global pandemic, just to name a few. So much of this year has been a struggle, working day and night just to survive and yet, we still have work to do. How can we turn it around, get back on track, restore our lives, our communities, our state and our nation? Sometimes it seems that the battles and losses we will face ahead will defeat us, but we can still change course. We can still make a choice. We can still win the war if we do our part.
On Nov. 3rd we have a chance to make a course correction that will impact the outcome in the battles we fight for generations to come. We can VOTE for the change we want to stabilize our state and nation. I know it may seem that voting is not the answer to create the kind of change we so desperately need, but in a democratic society, it is still the one best way for the masses to rise up and change our direction. We are on a dangerous course with evil doers in many high places. It is frightening to think of what kind of world we are leaving for our children and grandchildren. Like so many of you, I pray every day that God will give us the strength to persevere in the midst of all the heartbreaks and losses. So many have lost so much, but if we exercise our right and vote, we take back some of what has been taken from us. If our vote wasn’t important we would not see so much effort being made to influence it, and in some instances, stop it entirely. There are people in power in this state and nation who will do anything to stop us from voting. And this year, they are even trying to stop counting the votes we do cast. They are misusing their power and taking extreme measures to keep us from casting our ballot, going even as far as sabotaging the U.S. Postal Service to slow down the delivery of ballots.
When confronted with this kind of treachery, we must not only vote, we must vote like our lives depend on it! And what does that mean? It means being prepared to stand in line and wait for hours, if necessary to vote. It means making absolutely sure that every eligible voter in our house votes. It means calling and texting friends and family members reminding them to vote. It means making sure your church family is encouraged to vote. It means being able to say to yourself that you have personally done all that you can to ask those in your circle to vote. It’s not enough for us to just barely win on Nov. 3rd, we need an overwhelming win. We need a sanctioned by God win!
It’s in our hands. This battle is left up to us to win. Let’s do our part and vote!
Be blessed!
