‘I Did It My Way!’

It’s fascinating to me to watch women take a leap of faith, defying the odds to try something new and bold and different. It takes guts and strength to reach deep within oneself and say, “I’m willing to take the risk of failing to pursue my passion.” But for those who do, success is reaping the satisfaction and fulfillment of knowing that you are walking in your purpose.

In this edition of IMARA Woman magazine, we introduce you to women who are breaking the mold and taking the road less traveled to reach their goals. These women are making their mark by helping others live their best life.  When Bonita Clemons’ life was suddenly turned upside down and almost ended in a life threatening car accident, she didn’t give up. Instead, she learned how to help her body heal and began to help others do the same. (page11)

Yashica Mack may be small in stature but she packs a whale of a punch as a trainer and marketing representative in the boxing arena. (page14) And, Ashley Livingston said “No” three times before realizing that she had what it takes to be her own boss. (page 16)

I had the pleasure of meeting Sandra Blake and being in awe of her amazing talent. Her sculptures and hand-crafted dolls have been recognized nationally. Sadly, Sandra passed away in August, but her work has left an indelible mark that will be cherished for generations.  Sandra’s interview for our Totally Inspired article in this edition was the last one she gave. (page 8) Her life and legacy are the epitome of what it means to live with purpose and passion.

It’s not easy to just “do you” as the young folks say, but when we do, incredible things happen. So, let’s keep the faith and not be afraid to take the road less traveled!

Be Blessed,

Wendy
